Actually, I would recommend purchasing one of those massive Costco cookie trays that are sold for $15.99 with 48 cookies, which are much more cost effective and even tastier (in my opinion).īeware coming here during late nights on the weekends, as the line wraps around the interior and moves along at a snail's pace. Insomnia cookies are fine for mass-catering events, but that is the only situation where I would recommend purchasing Insomnia cookies. The double chocolate chip cookie is complete chocolate overload, and just becomes rather unpleasant to eat, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a chocolate fiend. I usually go for a simple chocolate chip cookie, but there is nothing special about Insomnia's chocolate chip cookies. If you HAD to purchase a cookie from Insomnia Cookies, I would recommend either their double chocolate mint or their white chocolate macadamia. Super chewy and soft dough is just not as satisfying. Their only value proposition is that they warm up their cookies, but often times they warm it up too much - the chocolate becomes drippy and gooey, melting on my fingers (ew) and the cookie dough becomes way too soft - personally, I love the texture of chocolate chip cookies with a slight crunch. And honestly, if we are comparing desserts in the downtown New Haven area, I would rather spend $3.50 on a Donut Crazy donut than $1.60 on a simple, plain, mediocre cookie. For $1.60 (!!) a cookie, Insomnia's cookies are not inexpensive. I definitely would skip this particular location and just go to a different insomnia cookies.I have never understood the hype surrounding Insomnia Cookies - I have had their cookies probably dozens of times during my college career, so I would say I'm extremely qualified to give a review. It's really the staff that killed the experience sadly. I give it a 3 stars mainly cause it's dessert and it's really hard to mess up the taste. I saw about 3 staff members, but for some reason I had to wait 10 minutes for a messed up ice cream sandwich. There was a small little line but nothing crazy. I didn't keep my receipt so I don't know if she charged me for a ice cream sandwich - and I just got ripped off, or she charged me only for the cookie and ice cream.īut regardless it did ruin the experience.įor a dessert shop, the wait time was pretty surprisingly long. I never bothered going back in for the cookie. It wasn't until after I ate my ice cream that I noticed I never received the second cookie. When I got my order, I dont know how, but I didn't notice the cookie on top missing. I ordered the ice cream sandwich, which contains two cookies and 2 flavors of ice cream. I corrected her what flavors I wanted- no issues there.Ģ. When I noticed they were working on my order, I noticed she was about to scoop me the wrong ice cream. The staff themselves seemed nice and easy to talk to, however they didn't really seem like they were paying attention.ġ. Not much to say here, can't really go wrong with cookies and ice cream! There are plenty of other options available that are not only cheaper but also offer a similar, if not better, quality, such as Tom Thumb. But honestly, there was nothing about the taste or overall experience that would entice me to return. Perhaps it's a different story if you visit their physical location, where the prices may be more reasonable. 240 College St, New Haven, CT 06510 No cuisines specified Menu Traditional Cookies Chocolate Chunk Cookies 1.60+ Classic with M&M's Cookies 1.60+ Sugar Cookies 1.60+ Oatmeal Raisin Cookies 1. Nevertheless, the experience was disappointing overall, and I cannot recommend ordering from them via Uber Eats. I ended up paying over $35 for six cookies and one brownie, and I must mention that I had them delivered through Uber Eats, so there may have been a slight markup. However, I must admit that the packaging was decent. One particular item, the brownie with butter cream frosting, was more like a dense brick than a moist treat. Considering the price, they are definitely overpriced for what you get in terms of both quality and quantity. In fact, I dare say Tom Thumb might even have better cookies. The quality of their cookies was just average, comparable to what you would find at a Tom Thumb. Insomnia Cookies left me quite disappointed and even gave me a sleepless night.
